International Code of Signals letter W, meaning "I require medical assistance."
Whiskey, letter W of the International Code of Signals, means “I require medical assistance.” The flag has a red square at its center, ringed by white, then a blue border. A ship hoists it singly when someone aboard needs medical help, prompting nearby vessels or shore to render aid or arrange evacuation. It is narrower than Victor, which requests general assistance; Whiskey is specifically the call for medical aid.
