International seafarer welfare projects.
ISWAN, the International Seafarers’ Welfare and Assistance Network, is a registered charity coordinating seafarer welfare worldwide. It runs SeafarerHelp, a free 24-hour multilingual helpline; the Seafarers’ Emergency Fund; mental-health and women-seafarers programs; and guidance on welfare facilities. ISWAN promotes implementation of the Maritime Labour Convention 2006, Regulation 4.4 on shore-based welfare, and administers port-welfare-committee networks. Formed in 2013 from the merger of ICSW and ISAN, it works with shipowners, unions, ports, and seafarer missions across the globe.
