WW2 Atlantic Convoy Heritage Centre

Heritage interpretation of the Battle of the Atlantic (1939 to 1945), the convoy campaign that protected merchant shipping from U-boats. The principal UK site is the Western Approaches Museum in Derby House, Exchange Flags, Liverpool, the underground command bunker from which Western Approaches Command directed convoys from 1941. Across the Atlantic, Halifax, Nova Scotia, was the main North American convoy assembly port; its role is interpreted at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic. The convoy-and-escort system held merchant losses below the rate U-boats needed.
