Xenon Strobe Light

A xenon strobe light uses a xenon flash tube to emit short, intense pulses at a set rate, used as a high-visibility locator and marker light. On survival equipment it is the regulated lifejacket and liferaft locator light: SOLAS Chapter III and the LSA Code require lifejacket lights, and automatically activated strobes aid recovery of a person in the water. Strobes also mark obstructions and serve as emergency or marshalling beacons. The high peak intensity makes a single flash carry far in darkness or poor visibility.
