Yachtmaster Ocean

The RYA Yachtmaster Ocean is the senior qualification in the scheme, for a skipper able to plan and conduct an ocean passage and navigate by celestial means. The candidate must already hold Yachtmaster Offshore, complete a qualifying ocean passage of at least 600 miles as skipper of the watch including 96 hours non-stop and a landfall under sail, keep a sight folder of astronavigation worked from sun and stars, and pass an oral examination on ocean passage planning, weather, and worldwide navigation.
