Yachtmaster Offshore

The RYA Yachtmaster Offshore is the qualification for a skipper competent to take a yacht on passages up to about 150 miles offshore. The candidate must hold a restricted VHF licence and a valid first-aid certificate, log at least 50 days, 2,500 miles, and five passages including two as skipper and two night passages, then pass a practical examination of 8 to 12 hours covering pilotage, passage planning, boat handling, and crew management. With a commercial endorsement it qualifies a professional skipper of vessels up to 200 gross tons.
