Yugoslav Adriatic Trade

The coastal and liner shipping of the Kingdom of, then Socialist Federal, Yugoslavia along the eastern Adriatic, 1918 to 1992, served by ports at Rijeka (Fiume), Split, Bakar, and Koper. State and cooperative lines such as Jadranska Linijska Plovidba and the later Jadrolinija (founded 1947) ran passenger and cargo services down the Dalmatian coast and across to Italy; Splosna Plovba and Jugolinija handled deep-sea cargo. The trade fragmented among successor states (Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro) after Yugoslavia’s 1991 to 1992 breakup.
