F3. Seafaring Life, Education, Professions and InstitutionsDefinition
Chinese major bunkering and ship repair hub.
The maritime concentration at Zhoushan, the island prefecture off Ningbo in Zhejiang, China, and the country’s largest bunkering port through the Zhoushan bonded-bunker free-trade zone. It combines bunkering, ship repair and recycling, oil storage and refining (the Zhejiang Petrochemical complex), and COSCO’s Zhoushan shipyard. Zhoushan forms part of the combined Ningbo-Zhoushan port, the world’s busiest by cargo tonnage, and has built itself into China’s main bonded marine-fuel supply and bunker-pricing center.
