Bigboat Series

F4. Recreational Boating, Yachting and Sport

Definition

Various national big-boat racing circuits.

A grand-prix keelboat regatta run by the St. Francis Yacht Club on San Francisco Bay each September, raced under handicap and one-design divisions for large racing yachts. The series runs windward-leeward and bay courses across several days in the strong summer westerlies and flood tides off the City Front. It is a fixture of the West Coast big-boat calendar, drawing IRC and ORR entries plus one-design classes. The name also serves generically for big-boat circuits at other clubs.
