Inshore Series

F4. Recreational Boating, Yachting and Sport

Definition

Coastal racing series at club level.

A club or class racing series sailed on coastal and harbor waters rather than offshore, typically a sequence of day races scored cumulatively over a season. Courses are windward-leeward or laid round fixed marks within sight of land, finishing the same day, in contrast to offshore and ocean races. Most yacht clubs run an inshore series for cruiser-racers under handicap (IRC or PHRF) alongside one-design fleets. The name describes the format, not one specific event.
