Cargo operations log

The cargo operations log is the chronological record of loading and discharging kept by the officer in charge of the cargo watch. It records start and stop times, tank or hold sequence, quantities, pumping rates and pressures, ballast adjustments, draft and trim, hose connection and disconnection, and any stoppage with its cause. On tankers it ties into the cargo record book and oil record book Part II. The log is the primary evidence in cargo-quantity and demurrage disputes and is checked against the statement of facts and the laytime record.
