Chapter I (SOLAS)

SOLAS Chapter I sets out general provisions, including application, definitions, the survey regime, and the certificates that attest compliance. It governs the Passenger Ship Safety, Cargo Ship Safety Construction, Equipment, and Radio certificates, and the conditions under which they are issued, endorsed, and withdrawn. The survey types it underpins are the initial, annual, intermediate, periodical, and renewal surveys.
