The Cargo Ship Safety Construction Certificate certifies that a cargo ship’s hull, machinery, and equipment meet SOLAS structural and machinery requirements, issued under SOLAS I/12 on Form C after the survey regime of regulations I/10 and I/10A. It applies to cargo ships of 500 GT and upward on international voyages and is valid for up to five years under the Harmonized System of Survey and Certification, subject to annual, intermediate, and renewal surveys. The certificate covers SOLAS Chapter II-1 construction, subdivision, stability, and machinery and electrical installations. A recognized organization acting for the flag State typically conducts the survey and issues the form.
