Chapter III (SOLAS)

SOLAS Chapter III covers life-saving appliances and arrangements, including lifeboats, liferafts, rescue boats, launching equipment, personal life-saving appliances, the muster list, and drills. It makes the International Life-Saving Appliance (LSA) Code mandatory and sets capacity, deployment-time, and maintenance requirements. Operational and abandon-ship drills are required at set intervals.
