The Company Security Officer (CSO) is the person a shipping company designates under the ISPS Code Part A/11 to ensure that a ship security assessment is carried out and that each ship’s Ship Security Plan is developed, approved, implemented, and maintained. One CSO may cover several ships. The role connects the company’s shore security management to onboard implementation that underpins the International Ship Security Certificate.
