Etchells
F4. Recreational Boating, Yachting and SportDefinition
International one-design keelboat designed by Skip Etchells in 1966.
The Etchells is an international one-design keelboat designed by Skip Etchells in 1966 as a contender for the Olympic three-man keelboat trials, which it lost to the Soller but went on to a long career as a high-performance adult racing class. About 30 feet overall with a fin keel and a crew of three or four, it rewards precise sailing and is raced at a world championship level by many former Olympic and America’s Cup sailors. Strict class rules keep the fleet one-design.
