EU MRV Regulation 757/2015

Regulation (EU) 2015/757 establishes the EU system for monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) of carbon dioxide emissions from maritime transport. It applies to ships above 5,000 GT calling at EEA ports; each ship follows an approved monitoring plan, an accredited verifier checks the annual emissions report, and the verified data publishes through the THETIS-MRV system. Amending Regulation (EU) 2023/957 extended it to methane and nitrous oxide from 2024 and aligned it with the maritime EU Emissions Trading System. It is separate from the IMO Data Collection System under MARPOL Annex VI.
