FFI

FFI is the FIATA Forwarding Instructions, a standard form a customer completes to give a freight forwarder written instructions for a consignment. FIATA issues it so the data a forwarder needs, parties, goods description, marks, weights, Incoterms, routing, and customs and insurance instructions, follows one layout instead of each forwarder’s own version. It is one of the FIATA document set alongside the FCR (forwarder’s certificate of receipt), FCT (certificate of transport), FWR (warehouse receipt), FWB (non-negotiable multimodal waybill), and the negotiable FBL multimodal bill of lading. The FFI is an instruction document, not a transport contract or a document of title.
