World championship trophy for the Star one-design.
The Gold Cup is the Star class World Championship trophy, awarded since 1923 to the world champion of the Star class. The Star is a 6.9 m (22 ft 7 in) two-person keelboat designed by Francis Sweisguth in the office of William Gardner in 1910/11, an Olympic class from 1932 to 2012. The International Star Class Yacht Racing Association runs the Worlds; the Gold Cup goes to the winning skipper and crew. The trophy and its long champion list make it one of the senior one-design world titles in the sport.
