Olympic Sailing
F4. Recreational Boating, Yachting and SportDefinition
Sailing has been part of the Olympic program since 1900.
Sailing has featured at the Olympic Games since 1900, with World Sailing selecting the events and equipment for each edition within an IOC cap on athlete numbers. The 2024 program ran ten events across dinghy, skiff, multihull, windsurfing, and kiteboarding equipment, including the men’s and women’s ILCA, the 49er and 49erFX skiffs, the mixed Nacra 17, the iQFoil windsurfer, and Formula Kite. The classes turn over between cycles as the sport’s equipment evolves toward foiling.
