E1. Maritime security, geopolitics and risk

Definition

SHADE-style coordination body.

The Gulf of Guinea Maritime Collaboration Forum, also called SHADE GoG, a coordination body that brings together regional navies, partner nations, and industry to deconflict and align counter-piracy effort off West Africa. Modeled on the SHADE forum used for Somali piracy, it shares awareness, synchronizes patrols, and links the Yaounde architecture’s fusion centers with shipowner reporting through MDAT-GoG. It is a voluntary coordination mechanism, not a treaty body, and works alongside the Gulf of Guinea Declaration and BMP West Africa to reduce crew abductions.
