Hartley H18
F4. Recreational Boating, Yachting and SportDefinition
New Zealand trailer-sailer class.
The Hartley H18 is a New Zealand trailerable yacht (trailer-sailer) of about 5.5 m, built from Richard Hartley’s plywood designs that became popular for amateur home construction from the 1960s. The Hartley range covered numerous lengths for cruising and weekend sailing rather than strict one-design racing. The H18 carries a small cabin, a fixed or swing keel, and a sloop rig. It is not an Olympic or international racing class but a home-build cruising design from the Hartley plan catalogue.
