International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas.
The International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas manages tuna and tuna-like species across the Atlantic and Mediterranean, most prominently Atlantic bluefin. After bluefin spawning biomass crashed in the 2000s, ICCAT imposed deep TAC cuts, an electronic bluefin catch documentation scheme, and tighter quota controls; the eastern stock has since shown recovery. The commission allocates national quotas, runs joint inspection, and is often cited in debates over whether RFMO science advice is followed.
