Joint War Committee (JWC)

The Joint War Committee, comprising Lloyd’s and International Underwriting Association hull-war underwriters, publishes the Listed Areas of enhanced risk where additional war and strikes premium applies. A vessel entering a listed area, the Red Sea or the southern Black Sea, for example, triggers an additional premium negotiated per transit and a notification requirement under the hull policy’s trading warranties. The committee revises the list by bulletin as conflict and piracy risk shifts.
