Jolle, Star Class

The Star is a 22.8 ft (6.9 m) two-person one-design keelboat designed by Francis Sweisguth in 1910 and first sailed in 1911. Jolle is the German and Scandinavian word for a dinghy or small boat, applied here to the low-freeboard Star with its tall rig and long fin keel. The Star was an Olympic class from 1932 through London 2012, the longest Olympic tenure of any keelboat. The International Star Class Yacht Racing Association also runs the annual Star Gold Cup world championship.
