Jules Verne Trophy
F4. Recreational Boating, Yachting and SportDefinition
Crewed non-stop fastest circumnavigation prize.
The Jules Verne Trophy is awarded for the fastest crewed, non-stop, unassisted sailing circumnavigation of the world by any boat with no restriction on type, the outright round-the-world speed record. Named for the 80-day voyage of Verne’s fiction, it has been held since 1993 by ever-larger maxi-trimarans; the record now stands at under 41 days. Any challenger that beats the standing time takes the trophy, which makes it the benchmark of absolute sailing speed over the planet.
