Pan American Games Sailing

Sailing has featured at the Pan American Games, the quadrennial multisport event of the Americas governed by Panam Sports, since the 1959 Chicago Games. Classes follow World Sailing one-design and Olympic equipment of the era, such as the ILCA, Sunfish, Snipe and Lightning, with national crews qualified through their sailing federations. The regatta serves as a continental championship and a step toward Olympic qualification for nations of North, Central and South America.
