Performance Management Software

E3. Technology, digitalization and smart shipping

Definition

Vessel performance and benchmarking platform.

Performance management software measures a ship’s energy efficiency by comparing actual fuel consumption and speed against expected values from sea-trial and model curves, isolating hull and propeller fouling, weather, and operational losses. It computes the ISO 19030 hull-performance indicator, speed-consumption curves, and the MARPOL Annex VI Carbon Intensity Indicator, drawing on shaft-power-meter, mass-flow-meter, and noon-report data. Outputs drive hull-cleaning timing, trim optimization, and slow-steaming decisions. The category became compliance-relevant once the data-collection system (MARPOL Annex VI Reg.27) and CII (MEPC.328(76)) made the underlying measurements mandatory.
