B5. Ship Types and Individual Vessels

Definition

266,000 m3 LNG carrier (Mozah class).

A Q-Max is a membrane LNG carrier of about 266,000 cubic meters cargo capacity, the largest LNG ships built, where the Q stands for Qatar and Max for the largest size able to berth at the Qatari LNG terminals. The class was delivered from 2008 for the Qatari export trade and uses a membrane containment system with onboard reliquefaction of the boil-off gas rather than burning it. It sits above the Q-Flex of about 210,000 cubic meters in the Qatari fleet built and operated through Nakilat.
