RC44
F4. Recreational Boating, Yachting and SportDefinition
One-design grand prix class designed by Russell Coutts.
A 44 ft (13.35 m) strict one-design grand-prix keelboat conceived by America’s Cup winner Russell Coutts and drawn by Slovenian designer Andrej Justin, first launched in 2007 and built by Pauger Carbon Composite. The RC in the name is Coutts’s initials and 44 the length in feet. It carries an America’s Cup-style keel trim tab and a carbon hull sized to fit a 40 ft flat-rack container for circuit shipping. World Sailing recognized the class in 2009; it races the professional 44Cup (formerly RC44 Championship Tour).
