Record of Equipment

The Record of Equipment is the form appended to a SOLAS safety certificate that itemizes the life-saving, fire, radio, and navigation equipment the ship actually carries. SOLAS I/12 issues four variants matched to the parent certificate: Form P with the Passenger Ship Safety Certificate, Form E with the Cargo Ship Safety Equipment Certificate, Form R with the Cargo Ship Safety Radio Certificate, and Form C with the combined Cargo Ship Safety Certificate. The Record lists counts and types, such as lifeboats, EPIRBs, and radar, and is checked at survey against what is fitted. A certificate without its valid Record is incomplete.
