Ship Recycling Plan (SRP)
B4. Shipbuilding, Materials, Sea Trials, Retrofits and RecyclingDefinition
Required per HKC and EU SRR per ship.
A Ship Recycling Plan (SRP) is the ship-specific document a recycling facility prepares for each vessel it dismantles, required by the Hong Kong Convention regulation 9 and EU Regulation 1257/2013. It is built on the ship’s Inventory of Hazardous Materials and describes how that particular ship will be recycled: the order of dismantling, where and how each hazardous material from the IHM is removed and managed, how safe-for-entry and safe-for-hot-work conditions are established, and the worker-protection and waste-handling measures. The owner approves the SRP and the flag or competent authority references it before the International Ready for Recycling Certificate is issued.
