Required under MARPOL Annex I Regulation 37.
The Shipboard Oil Pollution Emergency Plan is required under MARPOL Annex I Regulation 37 on oil tankers of 150 GT and above and other ships of 400 GT and above. It sets the actions the master and crew take to report and contain an oil spill, lists reporting contacts and coordination authorities, and is approved by the administration. On ships also carrying NLS it is combined with the SMPEP as a SMPEP.
