Tall Ship
F4. Recreational Boating, Yachting and SportDefinition
Large sailing vessel of traditional rig.
A tall ship is a large traditionally rigged sailing vessel, typically square-rigged on one or more masts, the class of vessel that crews the international Tall Ships’ Races as sail-training platforms for young people. The term has no single legal definition but is set by Sail Training International for race eligibility, banding vessels by size into classes A through D. Modern tall ships are mostly sail-training ships, naval cadet vessels, and preserved historic rigs.
