Training Record Book

The training record book is the STCW-required document in which a cadet logs the onboard tasks, competences, and supervised watches completed during the sea phase. The book maps each entry to the competence standards of the relevant STCW Code table, is signed off by qualified officers, and is the documentary evidence a flag administration requires before issuing a first Certificate of Competency. Deck and engine cadets each carry an approved book aligned to their certificate route.
