Definition

Subsidiary UNSC bodies on country-specific regimes.

Subsidiary bodies of the UN Security Council that oversee country- or theme-specific sanctions regimes, each named for its founding resolution. The 1718 Committee runs the DPRK regime (Resolution 1718, 2006); the 1737 Committee oversaw the Iran regime (Resolution 1737, 2006) until it was terminated by Resolution 2231 (2015); the 2206 Committee covers South Sudan (Resolution 2206, 2015). Each maintains a designations list, considers exemptions, and is supported by a Panel of Experts that reports on implementation and violations.
