A-Class Catamaran

F4. Recreational Boating, Yachting and Sport

Definition

International one-design beach catamaran for one sailor.

The A-Class is the international development catamaran for a single sailor, governed by a box rule that fixes maximum length at 5.49 meters and beam at 2.30 meters and a sail area limit while leaving hull, foil, and rig design open. That freedom made it a proving ground for curved foils and full flight, and modern foiling A-Cats fly at high speed on a single helmsman’s trapeze. It is one of the fastest single-handed boats in the sport.
