Catholic seafarers' welfare organization, now Stella Maris.
The Apostleship of the Sea, now operating as Stella Maris, is the Catholic Church’s seafarers’ welfare organization founded in Glasgow in 1920. Its chaplains and ship visitors provide pastoral and practical support in ports worldwide, working alongside the Anglican Mission to Seafarers and the Sailors’ Society. It is one of the established welfare bodies whose shore services the Maritime Labour Convention 2006 recognizes.
