Highest IMO governing body, composed of all Member States, meeting biennially.
The Assembly is the highest governing organ of the IMO and comprises all Member States. It meets in regular session every two years, approves the work programme and budget, elects the Council, and adopts recommendations and resolutions on safety and pollution prevention. Assembly resolutions carry the prefix A. followed by a consecutive number and the session number, for example A.1001(25).
