BLG Sub-Committee

A1. The IMO and the international regulatory framework

Definition

Former Sub-Committee on Bulk Liquids and Gases, restructured in 2013 into PPR and CCC.

The BLG Sub-Committee on Bulk Liquids and Gases handled chemical and gas carrier safety, the IBC and IGC Codes, and oil and noxious-liquid pollution prevention. It held its final, 17th session from 4 to 8 February 2013. Under the sub-committee reform endorsed by the IMO Council in November 2012, the nine sub-committees were reduced to seven. BLG’s environmental work passed to the new Sub-Committee on Pollution Prevention and Response (PPR) and its cargo and gas-carrier work to the Sub-Committee on Carriage of Cargoes and Containers (CCC), both of which first met in 2014.
