Marine Environment Protection Committee.
The Marine Environment Protection Committee is the IMO body responsible for marine pollution prevention and control. It adopts and amends MARPOL and its annexes, the Ballast Water Management Convention, the anti-fouling and ship-recycling regimes, and the GHG measures, all under tacit acceptance. MEPC resolutions carry the prefix MEPC. with the resolution and session numbers, for example MEPC.328(76) on EEXI.
