BSc (Hons) Nautical Science

A three-year honors bachelor’s degree for deck-officer cadets that combines academic study with sea time and leads to a UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency certificate of competency as Officer of the Watch (STCW Regulation II/1). It is delivered in the UK at institutions such as Warsash Maritime School (Solent University) and University of Plymouth (offered there as Navigation and Maritime Science), accredited by the MCA and the Merchant Navy Training Board. Subjects cover navigation, ship stability, cargo work, COLREGs, and bridge resource management.
