Chapter XI-2 (SOLAS)

SOLAS Chapter XI-2 carries special measures to enhance maritime security and makes the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code mandatory. Adopted after the events of 2001 and in force from 1 July 2004, it requires ship security plans, ship security officers, a ship security alert system, and security levels set by the contracting government, alongside port facility security obligations.
