Energy Efficiency Management Plan (SEEMP)

D6. Decarbonization, emissions and alternative fuels

Definition

Ship-specific plan for operational efficiency.

The Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan is a mandatory ship-specific document, required on every ship above 400 GT under MARPOL Annex VI, that records the operational measures a vessel uses to improve fuel efficiency. Strengthened in successive parts, it now must include the ship’s CII implementation plan and the procedures for collecting DCS data. Unlike the design-stage EEDI and EEXI, the SEEMP targets day-to-day operation: slow steaming, trim optimization, weather routing, and hull and propeller maintenance.
