Fixture report
C1. Commercial shipping, chartering, economics and financeDefinition
Market report describing a concluded charter.
A fixture report is a market circular describing a concluded charter, naming the vessel, cargo, quantity, load and discharge ranges, laycan, freight or hire rate, and charterer where disclosed. Brokers and reporting agencies (Baltic Exchange panellists, Clarksons, Fearnleys) publish daily fixture lists that feed the freight indices and give the market its price discovery. A report may carry rate on private (RNR) when the parties withhold the number. Fixture reports are the raw data behind the BDI and its component routes, and chartering desks read them to benchmark live negotiations.
