Master GHG Database

The authoritative IMO emissions datasets are the IMO GHG Studies and the IMO Ship Fuel Oil Consumption Database. The Fourth IMO GHG Study 2020, submitted to MEPC 75, is the current inventory: it put shipping at 1,076 million tonnes of CO2 in 2018, about 2.89% of global anthropogenic CO2. The Fuel Oil Consumption Database is a module on the Global Integrated Shipping Information System (GISIS) under MARPOL Annex VI Reg 22A, holding the verified DCS returns of ships of 5,000 GT and above since 2019. The IMO Secretariat compiles an annual summary report to MEPC.
