MODU Code

The MODU Code is the IMO Code for the Construction and Equipment of Mobile Offshore Drilling Units, the 2009 edition adopted by resolution A.1023(26), with earlier 1979 and 1989 editions still applying by build date. It sets safety standards for the design, construction, and equipment of jack-ups, semi-submersibles, and drillships, covering stability, watertight integrity, machinery, fire protection, and life-saving, to give an equivalent level of safety to that for conventional ships engaged in international operation.
