Quebec Maritime Museum, L'Islet

The Musee maritime du Quebec at L’Islet-sur-Mer on the St. Lawrence, founded in 1968 and named for the navigator Joseph-Elzear Bernier, born in the town. It tells the story of St. Lawrence River navigation, the local tradition of seafaring captains, and Bernier’s Arctic voyages that asserted Canadian sovereignty over the archipelago. The icebreaker Ernest Lapointe and the hydrofoil Bras d’Or 400 are preserved on site.
