Single Window Data Set (IMO Compendium)

E3. Technology, digitalization and smart shipping

Definition

Harmonized ship-port-shore data elements.

The single window data set is the harmonized list of standardized data elements a ship and port exchange for arrival, departure, and clearance, maintained in the IMO Compendium on Facilitation and Electronic Business. The Compendium, governed by IMO with WCO, UNECE, and ISO, provides a common reference data model so the FAL Convention forms, ISO 28005 electronic port clearance, and national systems align to one vocabulary. Using a single window for these formalities became mandatory under the FAL Convention on 1 January 2024, ending duplicate paper filings.
