Shipboard data servers to share field data at sea.
ISO 19847:2018 (Ships and marine technology, Shipboard data servers to share field data at sea) specifies the requirements for a shipboard data server that collects data from machinery and systems and shares it safely and efficiently between onboard and shore applications. It defines the server’s communication protocols by reference to the ISO 19848 data structure, so equipment from different makers reports through one standardized hub. A 2024 revision updated the standard (ISO 19847:2024, Shipboard data servers for sharing field data at sea). It is the transport-and-collection half of the shipboard data standard, with ISO 19848 the data-dictionary half.
